Show Them Something They Have never Seen.
I finally got to the point where I owned all the staples. I have the Senko, the craws, some swimbaits, multiple worms, then this new mold from EPIC BAIT MOLDS caught my eye. Called the EPIC MANDER, this bait looks like a Beaver style bait; a Lizard and a curly tail worm were involved in some oddball thrupple or failed science experiment.
01. First Impression
At roughly 7 inches in length and nearly 12 grams, it is not a small bait. However, because of its slender profile, it still feels reasonable for not just a big fish bait but something you can use in a more finesse mission. While I have not used this bait a lot yet, I have some concerns that the tail section will be prone to tearing off easily. I have poured some of these in softer worm blends and more durable craw and swimbait blends. Time will tell, but so far, so good.
02. Three Separate Injection Ports
Now for the unique part. I thought the bait itself was interesting enough, so I didn’t do much research on the features of the mold. I didn’t notice until I received it that this single cavity mold has three separate injection ports, one for the main body, one for the legs, and one for the Ball on the tail. To my knowledge, this is the only mold that I know of that does this. The versatility and time savings that this adds make this a very fun mold to shoot.
03. Quality and Outlook
From a quality standpoint, The mold shoots beautifully. It vents well out of the box, and I did not experience any pitting or incomplete injections. I am not too familiar with the company, but I believe they are a reasonably new player in the CNC mold space. A quick look over their website tells me they will be putting out more unique baits like this. They already have a good collection of staples and some other pretty unique-looking options.
